Barrel Project

Flanders Red – Solera Style

The Club has started a group project where different brewers contribute the same recipe to the same barrel. The 60-gallon (59) barrel was provided by New Province Brewing Company. It first was home to a red wine, then it stored 2021 BA Veritas, a Belgian Quad. The goal is once the beer has soured and aged to taste, we will extract and replace to keep the barrel full and letting the wild yeast/bacteria continue to work.

Recipe

95% Vienna
5% Special B
0.25 oz Liberty (IBU less than 4, adjust accordingly)
Fermentis US-05
Aim for 4%-5% ABV

Contributions/Extractions

With probability of short contributions and the angels’ share, view 5 gallons as 4.25 and it works…according to Doc 🙂
