Ozark Zymurgists March Chapter Meeting Minutes

Membership Attendance: 17 of 22 Present

Guest Attendance:

  • Meeting was called to order at 7:10 and began with a toast from James Harvey (Social Chair).
  • Beer introductions commenced after the toast.  25 beers were introduced from 15 brewers.
  • Motion was made by James Harvey and seconded by Doc Farmer to approve the minutes from the March 2025 Chapter Meeting.  Motion carried unanimously.
  • Justin Hart presented a financial report and announced he had collected dues from 22 members.  We have $4,178.03 on hand. 11 members are also paid AHA members.
  • Old Business began at 7:20
    • King for a Day:  Shared impressions of King for a Day event at New Province.  Fun was had by all. 
    • Oktoberfest Trip Update:  James gave an update and shared his impressions of Bamburg, one of the stops on the trip.
    • April Social:  Will be held at Bentonville Brewing on 4/12/25 during Home Brew 2025 for the Women’s Shelter.
    • Barrel Project:  Doc gave an update and alerted the membership that the next swap will occur on April 5th around 10am at his place.  
    • Off Flavor Recap:  David Johnson gave an update from the second session.
    • Spring Charity Event:  Mike Lewis made a motion to hold the Spring event and authorize James Harvey to coordinate and set the date.  Justin Hart seconded.  Motion carried unanimously.
    • Iron Brewer:  David Johnson reminded the membership about the upcoming categories.
    • BJCP Study Group:  David Johnson reminded everyone of the idea to form a BJCP study group and possible scholarship for members interested in pursuing BJCP certification.  Please reach out to David if you are interested.
  • New Business began at 7:34
    • National Homebrew Competition, Indianapolis, IN:  Doc Farmer won second place in the Belgian Ale category.  Congrats Doc!!!
    • No new business from the floor.
  • Education Session began at 7:50
    • David Johnson spoke about Gluten Free Brewing
